How do doorknobs work?

A standard doorknob set has a pair of knobs. These are one for each side and as a result, these are then connected using a spindle. This is then held on by mounting bolts on position. Using the latch bolt that is connected to the latch, it helps you to ensure that the same gets connected and engaged to the door frame. This helps to allow the doorknobs to lock the door.

As a result, when either of the doorknobs turns, it helps to rotate the spindle. This then retracts the latch and allows the door to open well. In most of the cases, the spindle is spring-loaded then the spindle springs back into the closed position especially when the doorknob is released.
