Brass Goddess Meenakshi Holding Diya With Parrot

A beautifully crafted brass statue of Lakshmi, the deity of riches, prosperity holding an oil lamp in her hands and a parrot on her right shoulder. Although this sort of diya is commonly linked with Lakshmi, the parrot on her shoulder may indicate that the figure is Meenakshi, the deity of the picturesque Temple Complex in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Southern India. The hairstyle, worn in a long high ponytail at the back, appears to prove this.
